Save the Dates: the Who
so you’re ready to start working on your wedding stationery and you’ve decided to send save the dates. but who do you send them too? do you need to send them to all of your guests or just a few?
etiquette does not require that you send save the dates, so you have some leeway here.
- Out of Town Guests: a good group to cover because they will need more time than your invitation allows to make travel arrangements. give them plenty of time to book flights, take vacation time, plan for a pet sitter and etc
- Close Family and Friends: certainly you want everyone you invite to your wedding to be able to attend, but inevitably there will always be some guests who simply can’t make it. giving your close family and friends a heads up on your wedding date gives them the opportunity to keep the day free so they can be there to celebrate with you
- the Whole Guest List: if you want your wedding date on everyone’s calendar now, then send your save the date the whole guest list. just remember once you send a save the date to someone there is no turning back – they have to be on the guest list! if there are some people who are questionable because of venue size or costs, keep them off the save the date list.
- if picking and choosing who to send save the dates to, remember to make sure anyone who may be in contact with each other all receive one. you don’t want any hurt feelings!
