digital printing: a greener option

Friday, January 15th, 2010

more and more shops are offering digital printing these days for the quick turnaround time and decreased cost in printing small quantities. but there are also green benefits to digital printing. a couple of factors to consider:

  • toner is non-toxic and produces less chemical waste. Even soy based inks are made of a large percentage of oil which is not biodegradable. (soy ink has it’s benefits and is certainly preferred to a petroleum based ink.)
  • there is less paper wasted in digital printing because you can print exactly the number of pieces needed for a job. with offset printing you have much more paper waste.

digital printing gives consumers like small business owners a cost effective and green option for printing. it’s perfect for brochures, post cards, business cards, stationery and even wedding invitations!

I absolutely love the work of Helen Dardik over at Orange You Lucky. Her illustrations and patterns are absolutely gorgeous and if you ask me, have the perfect amount of whimsy. She recently posted this new pink and brown pattern which is being used on a bag for Blue Q. Check out more of here work here.

PS: For a Christmas present this year, I received my very own Blue Q bag with a Helen Dardik print on it. I was so excited!

A few months back I shared a sneak peak at Casey’s website, when just the home page was up. The whole site is up and running now (with the exception of some sound clips) and you can check it out here.

vampire weekend

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

ok, right now i am loving the new vampire weekend album. it has not been officially released, but you can listen to it here. not only do they have some awesome music, but their graphics are amazing. everything is consistent, from their website to each of their albums. they are creating a brand for themselves, something you don’t often see a band do. so often each album is a brand new design, which in itself can be a lot of fun too. however, their look offers something different.

everything is clean, organized and easy to read. their fresh look compliments their music perfectly. check out their site. some clips are below.

have you seen Food Tee?

i love the design of their logo, site and product. everything has a crisp clean look and a nice modern touch. their products are very reasonably priced too, starting at $20 for a tee. they also have some organic cotton options to keep things green and healthy!Picture 12
